Every veteran has a story worth remembering.

The Veteran Legacy Story Project was created to help preserve the personal memories, experiences, and life lessons of men and women who served in the United States military. Through professionally filmed and edited video interviews, we create meaningful legacy documentaries that can be shared with family members, friends, and future generations.

These stories are more than dates, ranks, and military records. They are personal histories told in the veteran’s own voice.

What we do.

We sit down with veterans in a comfortable setting and record their story through a guided interview. Each project may include personal photographs, letters, medals, military records, family memories, and other meaningful items that help tell the story.

The final result is a professionally edited short documentary designed to honor the veteran’s service and preserve their legacy.

Our pilot program.

We are currently selecting a small number of veterans for our pilot program.

For the first few participants, there is no cost to the veteran or their family. In exchange, we ask permission to use selected portions of the finished project as examples of our work, only with written approval.

Each participating veteran receives a finished video that can be shared privately with loved ones.

Who we are looking for?

We are interested in speaking with veterans from any branch of the military, including:

Army

Navy

Air Force

Marine Corps

Coast Guard

Space Force

National Guard

Reserves

We welcome stories from all service eras, including World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, and peacetime service.

What the process looks like.

1. Initial conversation: We begin with a short phone call to learn more about the veteran’s background and determine if the project is a good fit.

2. Pre-interview questionnaire: Before filming, we gather basic details such as branch of service, years served, duty stations, rank, assignments, memorable experiences, and available photos or memorabilia.

3. Personalized interview planning: We research the veteran’s service era, military branch, unit history, and locations served so the interview questions are meaningful and specific.

4. Filmed interview: We record the interview in a relaxed, respectful setting. This can take place at the veteran’s home, a family member’s home, or another appropriate location.

5. Editing and storytelling: The interview is edited into a polished video documentary, with optional photos, documents, music, and supporting visuals.

6. Final delivery: The veteran and family receive a finished digital video to preserve and share.

Why This Matters

Many veterans carry stories that have never been fully recorded. Some have shared small pieces with family. Others have rarely spoken about their experiences at all.

Our goal is to create a respectful environment where those memories can be preserved before they are lost.

For families, these videos become treasured keepsakes. For future generations, they become a direct connection to the people who served before them.

Privacy and permission

We respect every veteran’s privacy.

No interview footage, personal details, or family materials will be shared publicly without written permission. Veterans and families decide how their story may be used, who may view it, and whether any portion may be included in our public portfolio.

Recommend a Veteran

If you know a veteran who may be interested in sharing their story, we would be honored to speak with them or their family.

We are especially interested in partnering with veteran organizations, senior centers, retirement communities, historical societies, churches, and local service groups.
